Prime Minister Gordon Brown

Dear Prime Minister Gordon Brown:
I am a 40 year-old convicted drug offender serving Life Imprisonment without the Possibility of Release in the United States of America; I have been incarcerated since August 12, 1997.
It has come to my attention that you have banned conservative talk radio host Michael Savage from entering the United Kingdom. According to reports, your former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith believed that Mr. Savage's conservative views and opinions are so extreme, that she accused him of "seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred which might lead to inter-community violence". She therefore decided that it would be in the best interest of your country to include Michael Savage's name on a list which bans people from entering your country, a list which includes murderers and terrorists.
A list which you, Sir, approved.
I am writing you today not only in support of Michael Savage, but as a federal prisoner that would like to share a few thoughts with you. In the United States, the portion of our population that does not listen to conservative talk radio generally tends to view or portray those that do as unstable, extreme, nutcases that belong or want to belong to militias, are plotting to blow up abortion clinics or federal buildings, preparing to whack our President, arming for a civil war, or are otherwise on the verge of committing criminal or terrorist acts. Yet nothing can be further from the truth. A recent CNN report even noted that a majority of those who listen to conservative talk radio are well-informed and educated. And when you stop and consider the facts, you will find that the truly unstable, extreme, nutcases that are committing violent crimes and terrorist acts are the same ones that are terrorizing your country: street gangs and Jihadist.
If your goal is to keep individuals out of your country that may provoke others to commit serious criminal acts and foster hatred which might lead to inter-community violence, why then Mr. Prime Minister, does your list not include the names of nearly every Rapper and Hip-Hop artist living in the United States? Have you not ever listened to some of their lyrics? Do you not realize the influence they have over your youth? Do you not understand that some of their music does encourage drug dealing, promotes risky sexual behavior that leads to HIV/AIDS, and makes violence - including murder - seem like an ordinary, necessary, part of life? Rap music, combined with poor parenting, does play a major factor in why your children are stabbing each other in your streets. Yet Rappers can travel freely across your borders, and Michael Savage, a man who's never caused one death, a man who's never encouraged anyone to commit a single crime, and a man who is not responsible for influencing children to join gangs, deal drugs catch HIV, stab people or do drive-by shootings has been banned from entering your country.
I am aware that there are a number of Islamic extremist among the list of those banned in Britain. In fact, there was concern among some in your administration that the list may appear to be targeting Muslims. In one of many emails and documents obtained by Mr. Savage's attorneys a Home Office official stated:" We will want to ensure that the names disclosed reflect the broad range of cases and are not all Islamic extremist. Otherwise the exercise could play into the hands of radicals who falsely allege that unacceptable behaviors policy is targeted specifically at the Muslim community". In other words, your administration was so concerned with political correctness that you decided Michael Savage was the perfect patsy, a non-Muslim white man whose political views reflect freedom, love of country, personal accountability, and self-reliance.
Nice...
In prison most inmates entire existence revolves around watching Rap/ Hip-Hop videos, talking about Rap/Hip-Hop videos, Rap/Hip-Hop in general, and guns, drugs, sex, violence, and money. All day every day, in just about every prison in the United States you'll find scores of inmates who are completely obsessed with the aforementioned subjects just wasting their lives away. But there are some of us that do watch the news daily, discuss politics and current events, and are very grateful that we can listen to conservative talk radio as an alternative to the mainstream news cycle. And those of us incarcerated who are interested in life outside of the criminal-confines of the Rap/Hip-Hop culture, there are people - black, white, Hispanic, Muslim, Christian, and atheist - that do listen to Michael Savage, although I will admit most do not agree with his opinions or views. However, what Michael Savage does do is provide us with topics that are outside of the norm which often lead to meaningful, constructive dialogue that does make us imprisoned Savage listeners better informed, better behaved, independent-thinking individuals. I can assure you, Prime Minister Brown, inmates that succumb to Hip-Hop extremism or who convert to Islam while incarcerated are far more likely to engage in criminal activity once released back into society than those who listen to "The Savage Nation," Michael Savage's radio program. You might want to consider that.
Rather than be an all-too-common politically correct politician, my hope is that you can show some independence by becoming MORALLY CORRECT and removing Michael Savage from a list which includes murderers and terrorists. It's time, Prime Minister, to UNBAN Michael Savage from Britain.
God Save the Queen.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Rosso
